Before 1958 Season: Signed by the Milwaukee Braves as an amateur free agent.

December 3, 1963: Traded by the Milwaukee Braves with Del Crandall and Bob Shaw to the San Francisco Giants for Felipe Alou, Ed Bailey and Billy Hoeft. The San Francisco Giants sent Ernie Bowman (January 8, 1964) to the Milwaukee Braves to complete the trade.

May 29, 1965: Traded by the San Francisco Giants with Ed Bailey and Harvey Kuenn to the Chicago Cubs for Dick Bertell and Len Gabrielson.

June 12, 1967: Traded by the Chicago Cubs to the New York Mets for Rob Gardner. The New York Mets sent John Stephenson (June 17, 1967) to the Chicago Cubs to complete the trade.
