June 3, 1980: Drafted by the New York Yankees in the 32nd round of the 1980 amateur draft, but did not sign.

June 6, 1983: Drafted by the California Angels in the 4th round of the 1983 amateur draft.

August 2, 1985: Traded by the California Angels with a player to be named later and Mike Brown to the Pittsburgh Pirates for John Candelaria, George Hendrick and Al Holland. The California Angels sent Bob Kipper (August 16, 1985) to the Pittsburgh Pirates to complete the trade.

November 26, 1986: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates with Cecilio Guante and Rick Rhoden to the New York Yankees for Doug Drabek, Logan Easley and Brian Fisher.

October 24, 1988: Traded by the New York Yankees with Jack Clark to the San Diego Padres for Stan Jefferson, Jimmy Jones and Lance McCullers.

November 20, 1990: Granted Free Agency.

February 9, 1991: Signed as a Free Agent with the San Diego Padres.

July 10, 1992: Selected off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles from the San Diego Padres.
