October 14, 1968: Drafted by the San Diego Padres from the San Francisco Giants as the 1st pick in the 1968 expansion draft.

May 17, 1972: Traded by the San Diego Padres to the Oakland Athletics for a player to be named later, Curt Blefary and Mike Kilkenny. The Oakland Athletics sent Greg Schubert (minors) (September 11, 1972) to the San Diego Padres to complete the trade.

June 29, 1972: Selected off waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers from the Oakland Athletics.

October 22, 1973: Traded by the Milwaukee Brewers with Joe Lahoud, Skip Lockwood, Ellie Rodriguez and Gary Ryerson to the California Angels for Steve Barber, Ken Berry, Art Kusnyer, Clyde Wright and cash.

March 28, 1974: Purchased by the Houston Astros from the California Angels.

June 24, 1974: Selected off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies from the Houston Astros.
