October 5, 1937: Drafted by the Cincinnati Reds from Portland (PCL) in the 1937 rule 5 draft.
January 27, 1940: Sent by the Cincinnati Reds to the New York Yankees to complete an earlier deal made on August 5, 1939. The Cincinnati Reds sent players to be named later and $40,000 to the New York Yankees for players to be named later and Vince DiMaggio. The Cincinnati Reds sent Frenchy Bordagaray (January 27, 1940) and Nino Bongiovanni (January 27, 1940) to the New York Yankees to complete the trade.
