April 27, 1961: Traded by the San Francisco Giants with a player to be named later and Bob Schmidt to the Cincinnati Reds for Ed Bailey. The San Francisco Giants sent Sherman Jones (May 13, 1961) to the Cincinnati Reds to complete the trade.

July 1, 1963: Purchased by the Washington Senators from the Cincinnati Reds.
