April 30, 1954: Purchased by the Chicago Cubs from the St. Louis Cardinals for $12,500.

October 8, 1957: Purchased by the Cincinnati Redlegs from the Chicago Cubs.

June 15, 1958: Traded by the Cincinnati Redlegs with players to be named later and Johnny Klippstein to the Los Angeles Dodgers for players to be named later and Don Newcombe. The Cincinnati Redlegs sent Art Fowler (June 23, 1958) and Charlie Rabe (June 23, 1958) to the Los Angeles Dodgers to complete the trade.

November 30, 1959: Drafted by the Detroit Tigers from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1959 rule 5 draft.

December 14, 1960: Drafted by the Los Angeles Angels from the Detroit Tigers in the 1960 expansion draft.
