June 7, 1966: Drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 10th round of the 1966 amateur draft, but did not sign.

January 28, 1967: Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 1st round (2nd pick) of the 1967 amateur draft (January Secondary).

March 29, 1971: Traded by the Detroit Tigers with a player to be named later to the Minnesota Twins for Bill Zepp. The Detroit Tigers sent Art Clifford (minors) (May 16, 1971) to the Minnesota Twins to complete the trade.

December 5, 1974: Traded by the Minnesota Twins to the Chicago Cubs for Tom Lundstedt.

April 1, 1978: Purchased by the Oakland Athletics from the Chicago Cubs.
