June 3, 1985: Drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 2nd round of the 1985 amateur draft.

December 11, 1985: Sent by the Chicago White Sox to the Texas Rangers to complete an earlier deal made on November 25, 1985. The Chicago White Sox sent a player to be named later, Ed Correa, and Scott Fletcher to the Texas Rangers for Wayne Tolleson and Dave Schmidt. The Chicago White Sox sent Jose Mota (December 11, 1985) to the Texas Rangers to complete the trade.

June 25, 1987: Traded by the Texas Rangers to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Larry See.

December 5, 1988: Drafted by the Oakland Athletics from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1988 rule 5 draft.

June 3, 1989: Traded as part of a 3-team trade by the Oakland Athletics to the San Diego Padres. The San Diego Padres sent a player to be named later to the Cleveland Indians.
