Transactions 

September 27, 1983: Signed by the Detroit Tigers as an amateur free agent.

December 11, 1985: Sent by the Detroit Tigers to the San Francisco Giants to complete an earlier deal made on October 7, 1985. The Detroit Tigers sent a player to be named later, Juan Berenguer, and Bob Melvin to the San Francisco Giants for Dave LaPoint, Eric King, and Matt Nokes. The Detroit Tigers sent Scott Medvin (December 11, 1985) to the San Francisco Giants to complete the trade.

August 21, 1987: Traded by the San Francisco Giants with Jeff Robinson to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Rick Reuschel.

December 7, 1987: Drafted by the Houston Astros from the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1987 rule 5 draft.

April 4, 1988: Returned (earlier draft pick) by the Houston Astros to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

May 18, 1990: Traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Seattle Mariners for Lee Hancock.
