December 8, 1980: Traded by the St. Louis Cardinals with Terry Kennedy, Al Olmsted, Mike Phillips, Kim Seaman, Steve Swisher, and John Urrea to the San Diego Padres for a player to be named later, Rollie Fingers, Bob Shirley, and Gene Tenace. The San Diego Padres sent Bob Geren (December 10, 1980) to the St. Louis Cardinals to complete the trade.
