Transactions 

Before 1936 Season: Signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent.

January 22, 1943: Traded by the New York Yankees with Ed Levy and $10,000 to the Philadelphia Blue Jays for Nick Etten. Al Gettel and Ed Levy returned to original teams on March 26, 1943. The New York Yankees sent Tom Padden (March 26, 1943) and Al Gerheauser (March 26, 1943) to the Philadelphia Blue Jays to complete the trade.

March 26, 1943: Sent by the Philadelphia Blue Jays to the New York Yankees to complete an earlier deal made on January 22, 1943. The Philadelphia Blue Jays sent Nick Etten to the New York Yankees for Ed Levy, Al Gettel, and $10,000. Al Gettel and Ed Levy returned to original teams on March 26, 1943. The New York Yankees sent Tom Padden (March 26, 1943) and Al Gerheauser (March 26, 1943) to the Philadelphia Blue Jays to complete the trade.

December 6, 1946: Traded by the New York Yankees with Gene Bearden and Hal Peck to the Cleveland Indians for Sherm Lollar and Ray Mack.

July 12, 1949: Purchased by the Washington Senators from the Chicago White Sox.

October 11, 1950: Traded by the Oakland (PCL) with Ray Noble and Artie Wilson to the New York Giants for Bert Haas, Joe Lafata, Bill Ayers, Wes Bailey (minors), and $125,000.
