Outfielder Ziggy Sears played in the minor leagues from 1913 to 1928, the last eleven years in the Texas League, primarily with the Fort Worth Panthers. On May 19, 1925, he drove in eleven runs in a game.
After his playing days, Sears became a Texas League umpire in 1929 and was a National League umpire from 1934 to 1945.
His son Ken Sears played in the majors.
