Ziggy Sears played in the Texas League for more than a decade, primarily with the Fort Worth Panthers. On May 19, 1925, he drove in eleven runs in a game.
After his playing days, Sears became a Texas League umpire in 1929 and was a National League umpire from 1934 to 1945.
His son Ken Sears played in the majors.
