Young-sik Kang (강영식)

Young-sik Kang has pitched for over a decade in the Korea Baseball Organization.

After high school, Kang was picked by the Haitai Tigers in the draft. He was 0-4 with a 6.99 ERA as a rookie in 2000. He then was dealt to the Samsung Lions. In 2001, he gave up two runs (unearned) in 4 2/3 innings, then improved to 6-3, 3.79 in 2002. He was 1-2 with a 4.22 ERA in 2003 and 2-2 with a save and a 6.08 ERA in 2004. In '05, he pitched in 60 games, but as a LOOGY, only 31 2/3 innings. He fanned 37 but walked 30 and had a 4.83 ERA. He was 1-0 with a 4.65 ERA in 2006, fanning 35 and walking 26 in 31 innings. Samsung then dealt him to the Lotte Giants for Myung-chul Shin.

In 2007, Kang worked 35 innings over 58 games and had a 3.88 ERA. He was 6-2 with two saves and a 2.88 ERA in 2008, with 35 hits in 56 1/3 innings over 64 games. He was 4-3 with two saves and a 4.84 ERA in 2009. In 2010, the veteran went 3-3 with two saves and a 4.44 ERA, fanning 58 in 52 2/3 innings over 63 outings.

Through 2010, Kang has pitched in 446 KBO games, going 23-19 with 7 saves and a 4.39 ERA. He has worked 457 innings, barely over a inning per day.
