[edit] Biographical Information

Woody Woodward was assistant GM of the Cincinnati Reds from 1981 to 1984, then assistant GM of the New York Yankees in 1985-1986. He was GM of the Yankees in 1987 and the Philadelphia Phillies in 1988. Woodward then was General Manager of the Seattle Mariners from 1988 to 1999. During the team's 1995 playoff push, he traded 3 former number 1 picks (Salkeld, Newfield & Villone) for veteran starting pitchers and then traded a fourth #1 (Martinez) that offseason. Woodward had also been a Cincinnati Reds broadcaster in 1974 and 1975.

Woodward was the head coach at Florida State University from 1975 to 1978.
