Willie Lozado was one of four players who had considerable time at third base with the 1984 Milwaukee Brewers, a year in which regular third baseman Paul Molitor was injured. Lozado, who played in 43 games total that year with the Brewers, appeared in 36 at third base, while Ed Romero was in 59, Roy Howell was in 46, and Randy Ready was in 36. Ted Simmons, the DH, also appeared in 14 games there.
Lozado hit a decent .271 in his 43 games, with 20 RBI, and slugged .411. Romero hit .252, Howell hit .232, and Ready hit .187. However, while Lozado was the best hitter, Romero and Ready had better fielding percentages and range.
His professional baseball career lasted from 1979-90. A New York boy, he is one of many prominent players who was involved with the Youth Service League in New York City as a boy. [1]
