[edit] Biographical Information
Wese Callahan appeared in the majors in 1913. He was a shortstop, and between September 7 and 21 he was in a total of 7 games, of which 6 were in the field.
Manager Miller Huggins used Charley O'Leary as the regular shortstop that year, but Charley hit only .217 and was essentially done with the majors (he came back many years later at age 51 for one game). Callahan hit .286 with an OBP of .375 but didn't come back the following year, when Huggins made Art Butler the shortstop. Butler hit only .201 but kept the job in 1915.
Callahan had played for Winchester and Battle Creek before coming to the majors, and afterwards played for Jacksonville and Wheeling.
