Wes Bankston is a first baseman who made his Major League debut with the Oakland Athletics in 2008. In his first taste of the Show, he went 10 for 34 (.294), hitting his first home run on July 7 against the Seattle Mariners, but was sent down on July 11, caught in a numbers crunch. He came right back to Oakland however as starting first baseman Daric Barton suffered a freak injury to his neck while swimming during the All-Star break, landing him on the disabled list and opening a spot for Bankston.
