The Wei Chuan Dragons were a founding member of the Chinese Professional Baseball League and the league's first champion. The team was one of the league's most successful teams winning four Taiwan Series in ten years, including three-in-a-row. Due to a change in ownership after the 1999 season the team withdrew from the league.
