[edit] Biographical Information

Infielder Webster Garrison toiled in the minors for 16 seasons and finally earned a cup of coffee in the majors late in his career. Since his playing days, he has been a minor league manager and coach.

Garrison was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the second round of the 1983 amateur draft. Despite an offer to attend the University of New Orleans, he signed late that summer and made his pro debut in 1984 with the Florence Blue Jays. He advanced through the Jays organization, reaching the AAA level in 1989, but after missing much of the 1990 season with injuries, he became a free agent.

Garrison was signed by the Oakland Athletics organization in early 1991. After three years in their system, he was signed by the Colorado Rockies and spent two summers with their AAA team, the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. He rejoined the A's in 1996 and finally, a few weeks shy of his 31st birthday, reached the majors. He appeared in 5 games that August for Oakland, going hitless but recording a walk.

Back in the minors in 1997, Garrison was a player/coach for the Huntsville Stars in 1998 and Midland Rockhounds in 1999. Since ending his playing career, he was been a coach or manager at various levels in the Oakland organization.
