The first professional baseball club in Watertown, NY, the Watertown Grays were an inaugural member of the Canadian-American League in 1936. They started on an ominous note when 41 fans showed up Opening Day. They went 35-52-1 under manager Admiral Martin and finished fifth in the six-team Can-Am League. John Tulacz was the star hitter (.405) and pitcher (12-7, 2.61).
After the season ended, owners Lou Gorski and Bill Buckley feuded amid the financial wreck of the club, which moved to Gloversville, NY, becoming the Gloversville Glovers.
