Heaviest man in MLB history.
Young was picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 31st round of the 1999 draft, and was in the Pirates minor league organization from 1999-2003, moving no higher than high Single A. While he hit .300 only once during that time, he slugged over .500 several times. A peak year was in the SAL when he hit .333 with a .562 slugging percentage.
In 2004 he was in the Baltimore Orioles organization, in Double A ball, and he hit 33 home runs. He was moved up to Triple A ball in 2005, dropping off considerably in power to 13 home runs in 123 games, but getting his chance at the big leagues.
In 2006 his time was split between Corpus Christi of the Houston Astros organization and Portland of the San Diego Padres organization. He hit 13 home runs in 108 games.
