Walter Lonergan played for the 1911 Red Sox. Later he spent several years with the Portland Duffs.
"Walter Lonergan . . . does not know yet whether he will be able to get a leave of absence from the postoffice, so that he can go to Jersey City. Ever since he took up professional baseball he has had trouble getting leaves of absence, and he now feels that he has reached the end of his rope and that any further advances will be rejected." - Sporting Life, April 6, 1912
