Walt Streuli was at Southwestern University at Memphis in 1954 and came up to the majors one day before his 19th birthday with the 1954 Tigers. He was with the Tigers in 1954-56 for a total of six games as a catcher. He got three hits, two of which were doubles.

Steuli was in the minors beginning in 1953 and hit .294 for Durham in 1954. In 1955 he appeared in 99 games with Buffalo, a team which also featured Jim Bunning. Bunning, who was several years older than Streuli, came up to the Tigers for the first time in 1955.
