17-year-old Vern Freiburger played for the 1941 Cleveland Indians.
He also hit .318 for Flint in 1941 and over .300 for Cedar Rapids in 1942. The war interrupted, and he then came back to play in the minors from 1946-52, mostly in the Virginia League.
