Following the 2005 season, the Vermont Expos of the New York-Penn League announced they would be known as the Vermont Lake Monsters beginning in 2006. Major League Baseball had demanded that the team eliminate the nickname Expos. The club is an affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
The team plays their home games in Winooski, VT.
