Following the 2005 season, the Vermont Expos of the New York-Penn League announced they would be known as the Vermont Lake Monsters beginning in 2006. Major League Baseball had demanded that the team eliminate the nickname Expos. The club is an affiliate of the Oakland A's.
The team plays its home games in Winooski, VT.
