Outfielder Van Snider played for the 1988-89 Cincinnati Reds.
Snider was in the Kansas City Royals organization from 1982-87, twice hitting 20+ home runs. In 1988-89 he split his time between the big league Reds and their Nashville farm club, where he hit 35 home runs in the two years in spite of being in the majors part of the time. From 1990-96 he was in the five different organizations, finishing up in 1996 in Mexico.
He, Duke Snider and Travis Snider are the only major leaguers through 2008 with the last name Snider, although there have been many with the last name Snyder.
After baseball he became a police officer in Ohio.
