Valerio Simone was 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in the 2008 European Under-21 Championship at age 17. He had a 1-0 record in the 2009 European Junior Championship, allowing only two hits and one unearned run in 8 innings while fanning 9.
Simone was put on Italy's preliminary 28-man roster for the 2010 European Championship but was one of their final cuts.
