The school was a two year college from 1987 to 1993 known as Utah Valley Community College and a four year school known as Utah Valley State College until July 1, 2008 when it attained University status. Alumni include Mitch Jones and Kameron Mickolio. Richard Stephenson went here many years after his playing career was over. Vance Law was an assistant coach here.
