UTEP was known as Texas College of Mines and Metallurgy from 1920 to 1949 and Texas Western College from 1949 to 1967. The school sponsored baseball until 1928, 1930 to 1941, and 1963 to 1985. The team played in the Western Athletic Conference from 1969 until the team was dropped.
