Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe and was part of the Soviet Union for a time. Two major leaguers were born in the Ukraine (through 2007), both of them Jewish - Bill Cristall and Izzy Goldstein. Ed Gottlieb, a major figure in the Negro Leagues, was also born here.
