Ty LaForest came to the majors in August 1945 and played a lot of third base for the 1945 Boston Red Sox, appearing in 52 games (45 of which were at third base) during August and September of that year.
LaForest, born in Canada, was 28 at the time.
His minor league career lasted through 1946, and he died in May 1947 of a heart ailment brought on by pneumonia.
