In 1985 the Nuevo Laredo Owls began splitting their home games between Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas on the Mexican side of the US-Mexico border and Laredo, TX on the American side. The club kept up this arrangement for 19 years, including a Mexican League pennant in 1989 behind the hitting of long-time star Alejandro Ortiz. In 2004 the team moved cities and is now called the Potros de Tijuana.
