The Tucson Sidewinders began play in 1998. They were previously known as the Tucson Toros; they changed their name when they became an affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks. They captured the Pacific Coast League championship in 2006. Following the 2008 season, the team will move Reno, NV. It will be the first time since 1969 that Tucson is not in the Pacific Coast League.
