[edit] Team History

The Tucson Padres joined the Pacific Coast League in 2011, replacing the Portland Beavers as the San Diego Padres' AAA affiliate. The team was purchased by a group headed by Padres' CEO Jeff Moorad in December 2010. The team signed a one-year lease at Kino Stadium (formerly Tucson Electric Park) for 2011, which is renewable for 2012 depending on the progress of a new ballpark being built as the permanent home in Escondido, CA.
