Travis Adair is the son of Rick Adair. The Atlanta Braves took him in the 13th round of the 2008 amateur draft. Travis hit .289/.355/.340 for the 2008 GCL Braves but struggled with the glove, leading Gulf Coast League shortstops with 24 errors. In 2009, his hitting went south as he put up a .206/.289/.255 line for the Danville Braves but he fielded .973 at second base, nearly leading the Appalachian League.

Let go by Atlanta, he signed with the Texas Rangers and was sent to the Hickory Crawdads. After 70 games, he was batting .338/.384/.420 while fielding .981 at second.
