Travis Phelps is the lowest round draftee to ever play in the majors. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the 89th round of the 1996 amateur draft.

He had a good rookie year in 2001, posting an ERA of 3.48 (the team ERA was 4.94 and the league ERA was 4.47).

In 11 years in the minors (9 spent in AAA), he won 55 games, split between starting and relieving.

He is (through 2008) the only major leaguer born in Rocky Comfort, MO, a small unincorporated town.
