Tony Mahoney was a lefthanded pitcher in the Negro Leagues from 1921 to 1923, noted for a good curveball. He pitched for the Norfolk Giants, Brooklyn Royal Giants, Indianapolis ABCs and Baltimore Black Sox, serving briefly as captain of the latter in 1923.
He served in World War I and was severely gassed. Never fully recovering from his gassing, he died after an illness of several months at Walter Reed Hospital.
