The son of Tony Gwynn and nephew of Chris Gwynn, Tony Gwynn (also sometimes called Anthony Gwynn or Tony Gwynn, Jr.) is a Milwaukee Brewers player who made his debut in 2006. As of July 8, 2007, he was hitting .310 as a back-up outfielder and pinch-hitter at age 24. He is one of several youngsters who led the 2007 Milwaukee Brewers resurgence.

Gwynn has spent part of each season in the minors so far. In 2008, through April 25, he is hitting at least .500 at both the major league and the Triple A levels, having appeared in several games at each place.

He was born in October 1982 after his father's first major league baseball season.

He spent 2005 with the Huntsville Stars of the Southern League, hitting .271 and stealing 34 bases. Gwynn was called up to the big leagues on July 15, 2006.

He got his first hit, a double, on the same date as his father got his first hit, also a double, 24 years earlier.

Gwynn hit .300 in 2006 for the Nashville Sounds, placing him 10th in the Pacific Coast League.

  • Drafted out of high school in the 33rd round (1000th overall) by the Atlanta Braves in 2000.
  • Drafted in the 2nd round (39th overall) in the 2003 draft.
