Outfielder Tony Diggs was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 6th round of the 1989 amateur draft. He played eight seasons in the minors for the Brewers (1989-1993) and St. Louis Cardinals (1994-1996), briefly reaching AAA in 1993, 1995, and 1996. He twice topped 30 steals in a season.
In 1998-1999, Diggs was a minor league coach in the Cardinals system. He was director of player development for the "MLB All-Stars" in the International Baseball League of Australia in 2000-2001 and was a consultant for the Australian national team for the 2000 Olympics. In 2002-2003, he again coached in the Cardinals farm system. In 2004, he moved to the Milwaukee Brewers organization as a hitting coach for the Beloit Snappers. In 2006, he was promoted to assistant director for the Milwaukee player development center. While still holding down that job, he became manager of the AZL Brewers for 2008.
