Tommy Sheehan played four years in the big leagues. He appeared in one game in 1900 and then came back to play in 1906-08. Prior to 1906 he was playing in Tacoma.
In 1906-07 he played third base for the Pittsburgh Pirates next to shortstop Honus Wagner. In 1907 Alan Storke appeared in a few more games at third than Sheehan did.
Sheehan appeared in 148 games in 1908 for the Brooklyn Superbas, and while his .214 average seems modest, it was one point higher than the Brooklyn team average of .213. No player on the team hit as high as .250.
He is not to be confused with Tom Sheehan, who played in Pittsburgh twenty years later.
There seems to be some question as to whether Tommy Sheehan was actually 5 ' 8 ". In pictures where he is next to another player, he appears to be shorter.
