Tommy Parks was a two sports star at Mississippi State University, playing both baseball and football. His baseball career began in 1995 with the Mobile BaySharks of the Texas-Louisiana League, going 1-5 with a 5.53 ERA. He then moved on to the Pine Bluff Locomotives in the Big South League, his best year in the minors, in 1996 where he went 7-3 with a 3.86 ERA and 36 strikeouts. He spent time with a few teams during 1996. In '97, Parks had a 0.90 ERA for the Tupelo Tornado and Meridian Brakemen.
He joined the Greenville Bluesmen of the TLL in 1998, where he had an unimpressive run as a reliever. Parks threw 58 innings with 26 strikeouts and allowed 91 hits on 288 total batters faced. He had a 2-2 record, one save and a 6.48 ERA.
In 2000, Tommy began his professional football career as a punter in the United Football League in Taiwan with the Taipei Dragons and in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. He signed with the New York Jets in 2001 and played in the only game of his NFL career on September 9th. He had 5 punts for 238 yards with the longest being 56 yards. In 2003, Tommy made a return to the diamond with the Newark Bears of the Atlantic League, posting a 7.36 ERA in limited action. He also pitched with the Bears in 2004, going 2-3 with a 7.71 ERA.
Throughout his life, Tommy was known for dishonesty. He claimed to be from Tupelo, MS, hometown of his hero, Elvis Presley, but was not. He claimed to have reached AAA when he never played in Organized Baseball. He claimed he was born in 1971, three years after he was.
