[edit] Biographical Information
Pitcher Tommy Greene was signed as a 1st round pick in the 1985 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves and scouts Bill Wight and Smoky Burgess.
Despite having only six major league victories to his name at the time, and despite his catcher Darrin Fletcher having caught only 27 games in his short career, Greene took the mound on May 23, 1991 and threw a no-hitter against the Montreal Expos. It was certainly not a thing of beauty however, as Greene gave up 7 walks in the process.
Tommy Greene was named as the inaugural general manager of the Monroe Channelcats part of the Southern Collegiate League, a collegiate wood bat summer baseball league, on November 6.
Greene was a high school teammate of future major leaguer Patrick Lennon.
