The Tombo Unions existed for one year, 1955, after Tombow Pencil became the sponsor of the Takahashi Unions. The company paid 3000-man yen for the team's name for a year. The team finished last in the Pacific League, at 42-98-11, 57 games out of first. Tombow pulled out of the team due to its poor play following year, and the Unions returned to their former name.
