Since his playing career ended, catcher Tom Nieto has been a coach and minor league manager with the New York Yankees and New York Mets. He began his coaching career in 1992 with the Chattanooga Lookouts in the Cincinnati Reds chain. Nieto managed the 1993-1994 Charleston Wheelers, 1997-1998 Greensboro Bats, 1999-2000 Tampa Yankees and 2003-2004 Palm Beach Cardinals. Nieto was first base coach for the Mets until June 17, 2008 when he was fired on the same day as manager Willie Randolph.
