Tom Holliday was an assistant coach at the University of Miami in 1976 and Arizona State University in 1977. He was then an assistant at Oklahoma State University from 1978 to 1996 and head coach from 1997 to 2003. Holliday took the Cowboys to the College World Series in 1999. He was the pitching coach at the University of Texas from 2004 to 2006, and has been pitching coach and associate head coach at North Carolina State University since 2007.
Holliday had been drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates out of junior college. After college, he played for Pittsburgh with the 1975 Niagara Falls Pirates, hitting .230/~.271/.302 in 33 games, primarily at catcher.
Holliday has two sons in baseball. His younger son Matt Holliday plays for the Oakland A's. His older son Josh played at OSU from 1996 to 1999, coached there from 2000 to 2003, coached NC State in 2004, and has coached at Georgia Tech since 2005.
