[edit] Biographical Information

Pitcher Tom Gorman began his playing career with the 1938 Blytheville Giants, leading the Northeast Arkansas League with 166 SO and 100 BB, while going 15-9 2.50 ERA. He was 7-8 3.36 for the 1939 Clinton Giants, before getting called up to the New York Giants for four games. In 1940 he was 11-11 3.93 for Clinton. From 1941 to 1945, Gorman was in the military service, and he was released by New York on April 4, 1946.

After his playing career ended, Tom Gorman became an umpire in the New England League from 1947 to July 3, 1948. He was in the International League until July 24 when he was optioned to the Canadian-American League for the rest of the season. He then returned to the IL in 1949-1950. He was a National League umpire from 1951 to 1977.
