Pitcher Tom Fletcher is the father of Darrin Fletcher and the son of minor league pitcher Glen Fletcher. Tom was at the University of Illinois in 1962, signed with the Tigers in 1962, and was up in the majors by September 1962.

In his one major league appearance he pitched two innings, giving up no earned or unearned runs. He was ten years younger than Jim Bunning, the team's star pitcher who won 19 games in 1962.

Fletcher pitched in the minors through 1968, only once posting an ERA higher than 3.30.
