Tom Earley pitched six seasons in the major leagues, all for the Boston Braves. He first came up under manager Casey Stengel.
Baseball Digest of October 1946 tells a number of tales about Earley under the title "The Earley Bird". He had a reputation as a pitcher who worked quickly.
Earley pitched in service ball during World War II for the Norfolk Naval Training Station.
He also pitched in the minors from 1936-40 and in 1945-46.
