Tom Bannon was the brother of outfielder Jimmy Bannon and minor leaguers George Bannon and William Bannon.

Bannon managed the Lowell Tigers for part of 1909, the Middletown Jewels for part of 1910, and the Haverhill Hustlers and Wilmington Chicks in 1911.
Bannon also umpired in the Eastern League in 1916 and 1917.
