[edit] Biographical Information
Tom Asmussen played two games at catcher for the 1907 Boston Doves.
There was a dispute in 1908 as to whether Asmussen had signed a contract with Eau Claire. At first he was declared a free agent when Eau Claire could not produce the contract, and later when a contract was found, Eau Claire went to some lengths to claim it was genuine. Asmussen had been player-manager for the club.
Tom managed the Aurora Blues for part of 1912.
"Tom Asmussen, a Chicago semi-professional catcher, who has the reputation of being one of the best catchers in that city, has been sold by Jack Keray, of the Marquettes, to the Boston Club." - Sporting Life, Aug. 17, 1907
